Marvel Anime Irons Out Its Future Plans

Posted in : Gossips

(added last year!)

Tony Stark was cartoonish enough without actually being an animated character, but we were on hand at New York Comic-Con to witness the very first episode of Marvel's  Anime Iron Man!

Marvel Anime Irons Out Its Future Plans

Marvel TV head Jeph Loeb introduced the episode along with G4's Erica Louis, providing a few exciting new revelations about Marvel's animated ventures.  Namely, in addition to Iron Man and Wolverine, Madhouse Productions will also work on anime versions of X-Men and Blade!

All four series will take place in Japan, but for reasons organic to the story rather than random.  The Iron Man episode dealt with Tony's move to set up an ARC reactor program in Japan, while Wolverine obviously already has extensive ties to the country.

Iron Man won't debut until Summer 2011 but we've got all the juicy details on the first episode as well as future Marvel ventures!

In addition to setting up free energy for Japan, Tony retires as Iron Man, planning to mass-produce his armor "Dio" for military purposes.  That is, until "Dio" mysteriously goes haywire and Zodiac's henchman Scorpio steals it!  Cliffhanger! The episode played in Japanese with subtitles, but will presumably be dubbed for G4.
Pepper Potts makes a few vid-conference appearances, but it seems Tony may find a new love interest in intrepid reporter Nanami! Tony's armor comes straight out of the film, but the "Dio" armor resembles a blue version of the comic Extremis armor.

All four of Marvel's anime projects will be broken down into 16 episodes. Comic legend Warren Ellis will be writing for Wolverine! Expect plenty of crossovers between the four, and a smackdown between Wolverine and Blade! We also got to see a brief trailer for Wolverine, which showed the feral mutant fighting his way through a dojo, and rescuing a buxom woman in leather. Fear not, for Wolverine will be just as gory as you dreamt.
