The official blog for the upcoming Starship Troops: Invasion CG anime series has posted up the first image of one of the characters this week that will be known as Major Henry Varro. The series, which is based more off of the movie from the 90′s than the original novel, is written by Flint Dille and is being produced by Joseph Chou, the man behind the Appleseed films as well as several other noteworthy projects. Showing even more of its connections to the theatrical film is that it has executive producers in the form of Edward Neumeier and Casper Van Dien. The feature is being directed by Shinji Aramaki with Neil Patrick Harris and Casper Van Dien starring with a planned summer 2012 release.
